Romanian Embassy Highlights Tourism Cooperation in Berlin

Diplomats and industry partners gather during ITB tourism fair

On 10 March 2026, H.E. Dr Francesca Camilleri Vettiger, Ambassador of Malta to the Federal Republic of Austria, formally presented her Letters of Credence to H.E. Mr Alexander Van der Bellen, Federal President of Austria, at the Hofburg Palace in Vienna.

The event was opened by the Ambassador of Romania to the Federal Republic of Germany, Adriana Stănescu, together with Secretary of State for Tourism Laurențiu Gîdei and Corina Macri, representative of the project Banat – European Gastronomic Region 2028. In their remarks, the speakers highlighted Romania’s tourism potential and the importance of international partnerships in promoting regional initiatives and cultural heritage.

Among the initiatives highlighted was the project Banat – European Region of Gastronomy 2028, promoted by regional partners from western Romania. The initiative seeks to showcase the cultural traditions and local heritage of the Banat area while encouraging sustainable tourism development and cooperation among regional institutions.

Additional contributions were presented by organisations such as Visit Timiș, Visit Timișoara, and Via Transilvanica – Tășuleasa Social, which work to promote Romania’s landscapes, cultural routes, and local communities. Their participation illustrated how cooperation between public authorities, civil society, and tourism professionals contributes to the development of Romania’s international tourism profile.


By presenting these initiatives in Berlin, Romanian representatives emphasised the importance of cultural exchange, regional cooperation, and sustainable tourism development. The event provided an opportunity to strengthen professional connections and to introduce international audiences to the diversity of Romania’s tourism potential.
