Republic Day Reception at the Italian Embassy and Italo-German Relations Celebration
Celebration constituting a tool to deepen Italo-German relations while showcasing sectoral achievements

The Italian Republic Day, celebrated annually on June 2, commemorates the foundation of the Italian Republic. The Embassy of Italy in Berlin marked this occasion with a high-profile reception, inviting key German government representatives to deepen bilateral ties and proposing an exhibition on Italy's achievements in areas such as industry 4.0, services, defense, aerospace, transport, energy.
This year's celebration was held under the motto "l'Italia che innova", meaning Innovative Italy. Over 1,000 guests attented the celebration, including representatives of Italian and German institutions such as Gunther Krichbaum, Minister of State for Europe at the Federal Foreign Office; Luisa Hölscher from the Ministry for Digital Affairs, and Frank Wetzel from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. The diplomatic corps, business leaders, academic and scientific professionals, and members of the Italian community in Germany were also present, to exchange on Italy’s sectoral achievements.
In his welcome address, Ambassador Fabrizio Bucci emphasized the enduring partnership between Italy and Germany, rooted in a shared vision for the future of Europe. He underscored the importance of diverse and intensive cooperation between the two countries as complex challenges arise for Europe: "Our two countries must work towards a stronger, united, fairer, and more proactive Europe: with culture, innovation, freedom, openness and inclusion, as well as entrepreneurial spirit, to ensure peace, security, and prosperity for all of us and for future generations."
The Italian Ambassador also commemorated the 70th anniversary of the recruitment agreement between Italy and Germany, expressing gratitude to the Italian diaspora in Germany "who have built a bridge between our two societies and made an important contribution to the German economic miracle."
The participation of high-level officials to the celebration underscored the strategic importance Rome and Berlin place on their bilateral relations. By promoting dialogue and cross-sectoral exchanges, this annual celebration contributes to deepening the relationship between Italy and Germany.
