The annual Frankfurt Book Fair, held from October 16th to 20th, 2024, brought together a wide range of events dedicated to culture, art, and literature. This year, Chile marked a significant presence, led by Chilean Ambassador to Germany Magdalena Atria, who attended to support the country’s largest-ever delegation at the fair. Ambassador Atria’s participation underscored Chile’s commitment to cultural promotion as well as its esteemed position as the Guest of Honour for the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2027.

Over the course of four intensive days, Chilean representatives organized three cultural events and two public discussions, emphasizing the importance of international cultural collaboration. Alongside these events, 116 business meetings were held between Chilean publishers and global literary agents, creating new opportunities and partnerships for Chilean literature in the international market. The opening day of the fair created space for close cooperation with Latin American consuls.

Not only did this book fair amplify Chile’s literary voice in Germany but also strengthened its global reach. With a dedicated team of 26 cultural and diplomatic representatives, Chile is setting a strong foundation for its honorary role in 2027, contributing to the internationalization of Chilean literature and culture.
