The Portuguese Embassy in Germany, in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism of Portugal, is happy to announce the concert by Gisela Joćo, which will happen on the 13th of June, in the Haus de Berliner Festspiele, as a way to celebrate the official Day of Portugal (which takes place at the 10th of June).

Gisela Joćo is a young Portuguese Fado singer, who combines also Jazz and World Music in her music, providing a more contemporary approach to this traditional music genre. After having her album “Gisela Joćo” ranking the number one in Portuguese charts, and considered the record of the year by the Portuguese magazines Pśblico and Blitz; as well as being nominated from the World Music Awards 2016, by Songlines Magazine, this will be the first time Gisela Joćo is playing in a Berliner stage. As the Portuguese Embassy announces on their website, this event will be a way to show the equilibrium they pretend to achieve between traditional Portuguese roots, and modern voices. Their second goal would be to promote Portugal as a tourist destination. The idea of having a Gisela Joćo's concert in Berlin came from the partnership between the Portuguese Embassy, Ministry of Tourism of Portugal, Caixa Geral de Depósitos, Camões Institute, AICEP, and the Hotel Pestana Berlin.

The Portuguese Embassy announces this concert as a result of the strengthening of the German-Portuguese bonds, in the recent years. Just last year, 2015, an increase of 12% of German tourists in Portugal was registered. It is also known that the Portuguese community in Germany is increasing; as well as the commercial and economic bonds between these two countries.

The concert of Gisela Joćo will be held on the 13th of June, Monday, 3 days after the official Day of Portugal, but as a celebration of it. It will take place at the theater Haus der Berliner Festspiele, at 20:00, and the tickets cost 20€.
