The Polish Cultural Institute in London, in partnership with the The Chopin Society UK, will host a violin recital on 26 April 2026 at Westminster Cathedral Hall. The concert will feature acclaimed violinist Magdalena Filipczak, accompanied by pianist Sam Armstrong, in a programme showcasing works by leading European composers.

The recital will include compositions by Frédéric Chopin, Benjamin Britten and Franz Schubert, reflecting a rich cross-section of the classical repertoire. Magdalena Filipczak, an internationally recognised performer, has appeared at major venues such as Wigmore Hall and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and her recordings and broadcasts have received critical acclaim across Europe and North America. Her artistic achievements include a widely praised debut album and collaborations with leading musicians and institutions.

Sam Armstrong, described as a “major new talent,” brings extensive experience as both a soloist and chamber musician, with performances at Carnegie Hall and the Concertgebouw. In addition to his concert career, he serves as Senior Tutor in Keyboard Chamber Music and Professor of Piano at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London. His ongoing collaborations and award-winning recordings further highlight his contribution to contemporary classical performance.

Beyond its musical excellence, the recital represents a form of cultural diplomacy, strengthening artistic ties between Poland and the United Kingdom. By presenting Polish and European repertoire in a prominent London venue, the event contributes to broader cultural exchange and reinforces the role of music in fostering mutual understanding. It also situates Polish cultural promotion within a wider European framework, highlighting shared artistic heritage and collaboration.

In conclusion, the Westminster Cathedral Hall recital offers an opportunity to experience outstanding musical talent while celebrating the richness of European classical traditions. Through its high-calibre programme and international performers, the event underscores the enduring importance of cultural partnerships in deepening UK–Poland relations and supporting long-term artistic dialogue.
