News from Berlin – On May 22nd, the Union des Français de l’Étranger (‘French Foreigners Union’) organizes a private photography exhibition called « Collection Regard ». This exposition gathers photographies most of them over Germany, and especially Berlin, since the appearance of photography until the 1990’s.

Since 2005, Marc Barbey has endeavoured to collect these pictures to museums, international organizations or even other collectors.

The showing gathers, in addition to the complete colection of Hein Gorny (1904-1967), works of photographer Lotte Jacobi, Siegfried Lauterwasser , Heinrich Riebesehl , Toni Schneiders, Friedrich Seidenstücker and selected photographs by Paul Almasy , Bruno Barbey and Robert Capa.

Marc Babey will be present at the exposition and visitors will be able to interact with him and some peers : « I want to create a space for dialogue and deep engagement with photography. A space people feel they’d enjoy returning to – often. Berlin is the perfect city for my collection. Both its history and its incredibly fast development are vividly present in everyday life, creating a dynamic field of tensions in which I hope to engage with fellow art and photography enthusiasts. I can’t imagine any place better than Berlin than to do just that.  » as Marc Barbey underlines it.

The showing will take place in a locale at Steinstrasse 12, Berlin 10119. To get there, it is possible to take the subway (U8 or U2 lines – Weinmeinstr. or Rosa-Luxembourg-Platz stations), the tramway (M4, M5 or M6 lines) or the bus (N5 or N65 lines).

Entry is free, even so it is necessary to register by sending an email to ufeberlin@yahoo.fr (with ‘Collection Regard’ as subject) or by calling 0179 92 66 377.
