Peru and Germany strengthen mining partnerships for clean energies
New strategic agreements for the global supply of critical minerals for technology development
February 20th, 2025Peruvian Foreign Minister Elmer Schialer Salcedo and German authorities have promoted new mining initiatives and strategic agreements for the global supply of eight critical minerals. During the 61st Munich Security Conference, which took place on 17 February 2025 in Munich, both countries agreed to promote the development of clean energy technologies. In this way, Peru's sustainable economic growth is strengthened through its participation in the Minerals Security Partnership Forum.
During his speech at the ‘Critical Minerals’ event, Schialer underlined Peru's importance in the global supply of eight strategic minerals, essential for the development of clean energy technologies. This commitment not only seeks to improve the living conditions of Peruvian citizens, but also to contribute to the sustainable economic development of the country.
The Foreign Minister highlighted that Peru is an active member of the Minerals Security Partnership Forum, a platform dedicated to the promotion and execution of mining projects, as well as the design of policies for a more secure and sustainable supply of critical minerals. Peru's participation in this forum reflects its leadership and responsibility in the international arena, taking advantage of the growing demand for strategic minerals to boost its productive transformation and economic development.
In addition to his participation in the main event, Schialer held bilateral meetings with authorities from Croatia, Ukraine and the Holy See, strengthening diplomatic relations and exploring new opportunities for cooperation. These meetings underline the importance of cultural and economic diplomacy in promoting sustainable growth and institutional stability, positioning Peru as a valid interlocutor in the face of current global challenges.
