On 5 August 2025, the Embassy of Pakistan in Vienna hosted an event to mark Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir, reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering diplomatic, moral, and political support for the just struggle of the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK). The gathering was part of a series of worldwide observances marking the sixth anniversary of India’s unilateral actions of 5 August 2019, when New Delhi revoked Jammu and Kashmir’s special constitutional status.

The event began with the reading of special messages from the President, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, each underscoring Pakistan’s commitment to the Kashmiri cause. In his remarks, Ambassador Mohammed Kamran Akhtar Malik reiterated Pakistan’s call for UN-supervised investigations into extrajudicial killings and for the full implementation of relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

He emphasized that Pakistan’s government and people remain steadfast in their solidarity with Kashmiri brothers and sisters, pledging to continue raising international awareness of the human rights violations in IIOJK.

Ambassador Malik highlighted the importance of collective action, urging the international community to utilise all available platforms to demand an end to India’s widespread human rights abuses. He stressed that galvanising international support is vital to ensuring the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.

The commemoration was attended by members of the Pakistani community as well as representatives of the Kashmiri diaspora from Austria and Slovakia. Participants expressed strong solidarity with the people of Kashmir, condemning what they described as a reign of terror and suppression under India’s occupation.

The gathering concluded with collective prayers for an end to the occupation and for the fulfillment of the Kashmiri people’s aspirations for self-determination and peace.
