“Nordic Freedom” Opens Doors at the Nordic Embassies in Berlin
Guided tours and Danish exhibition highlight democracy and cultural diplomacy
September 03rd, 2025On November 9, 2025, the Nordic Embassies in Berlin will welcome the public for a special program of guided tours under the theme “Nordic Freedom”, presented as part of Berlin Freedom Week. The event is accompanied by the exhibition “A Common Room in a Changing World”, curated by the Embassy of Denmark and running from October 16, 2025, to January 17, 2026.
The initiative offers visitors a rare chance to explore Felleshus, the shared cultural house of the Nordic Embassies, and to reflect on the role of democracy and openness in contemporary society. Through architecture, art, and dialogue, the program connects the legacy of democratic traditions with the pressing challenges of a rapidly changing world.
"With this exhibition, we want to invite Berliners and international audiences to experience Nordic perspectives on democracy, openness, and freedom," stated the Embassy of Denmark in its announcement. The exhibition features interactive installations and thematic displays that encourage engagement with Nordic values of participation, equality, and transparency.
The tours and exhibition are part of Berlin Freedom Week, a city-wide initiative commemorating the fall of the Berlin Wall and celebrating democratic values. By situating the event within this broader framework, the Embassy of Denmark underscores the significance of cultural diplomacy in reinforcing Europe’s democratic identity.
For participants, “Nordic Freedom” is not only a cultural experience but also a reminder of the power of embassies to act as spaces for dialogue, exchange, and shared commitment to freedom.
