Neue Nationalgalerie and Volkswagen Group Relaunch Art4All Initiative
A renewed partnership brings free monthly access and cultural programming to Berlin
April 09th, 2026The Neue Nationalgalerie and the Volkswagen Group have extended their longstanding partnership, established in 2012, for a further two years, relaunching the Art4All initiative in an expanded monthly format from 2 April 2026.
At the heart of the programme lies a commitment to dismantling the barriers that keep contemporary art out of reach, making the museum's collections and exhibitions tangible to the broadest possible public. In 2025, the initiative drew over 130,000 visitors to the Neue Nationalgalerie alone.
On the first Thursday of every month, admission is free from 4 pm to 8 pm, opening all special exhibitions and collection presentations without restriction. The relaunched format goes considerably further than free entry, pairing open access with a richly layered programme of educational and cultural activities calibrated to each exhibition.
Under the motto "Learning Together", guided tours run regularly in German, English, and easy-to-understand language. AskMe art educators circulate through the galleries, inviting questions and sustaining dialogue. The Open Studio hosts creative workshops drawing directly on the themes of current exhibitions, while specially commissioned live events lend each evening a distinct character.
To inaugurate the new format, the Neue Nationalgalerie and Volkswagen Group hosted a free concert on 2 April 2026, with French pianist David Kadouch performing to mark the occasion, a fitting overture to a programme that positions the museum not as a space for passive observation, but as a platform for shared cultural discovery.
