National Pakistani Day was celebrated by the Embassy of Pakistan in Berlin

Members of Parliament, Ambassadors, senior officials of the German government, intelligentsia, business leaders and Diaspora notables were present at the event

Ambassador Jauhar Saleem hoisted the Pakistani flag in front of the Chancery building and the audience sung the national anthem. Later, after recitation from the Holy Quran, the messages of the honorable President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan were read out on the occasion.

Ambassador Ina R. Lepel, Director General (Asia-Pacific) and former Ambassador of Germany to Pakistan represented the German government. Through his remarks to the audience H.E. Ambassador Jauhar Saleem, highlighted the progress Pakistan was making under dynamic democratic leadership, key policies and perspectives on international issues. He also underscored the need for unity, discipline and dedication to the cause of economic and social development of Pakistan; and appreciated the role of the Diaspora in this regard.

The Ambassador also talked about situation in South Asia in the aftermath of Pulwama, and especially about Pakistan’s admirable response to India’s act of aggression. He emphasized that Pakistan and India wanted to resolve all issues through a significant dialogue, including the altercation of Jammu and Kashmir, accentuating that India needs to stop the state sponsored terrorism in Indian Occupied Kashmir and allow the Kashmiris to exercise their right of self-determination.

Following Ambassador Jauhar Saleem, Ambassador Lepel in her speech, shed light on the idea of Pakistan, and the ideals for which the nation is striving. She underlined that thought the strengthening of democracy on Pakistan and the ongoing National Action Plan they hope to root out terrorism and extremism. Lastly, she conveyed the hope of the German government to see durable peace in South Asia enabled by a peaceful dialogue to resolve outstanding issues.

During the event, there were also presented documentaries on Emerging Pakistan and a qawalli concert by shabeer Khan Gullo, whixh was very much welcomed by the guests. The event ended with a  sumptuous sampling of Pakistani cuisine.
