My Unique Jazz Festival
April 22nd, 2014
News from Berlin - From May 21st until May 29th, EUNIC Berlin will host ‘My Unique Jazz Festival’. This is the first edition of the event, and takes place in three locations around Berlin: Kunstfabrik Schlot, b-flat and at the Nordic Embassy.
The brainchild of Italian jazz musician Andrea Marcelli, the festival aims to showcase how multi-faceted the European Jazz scene really is. He never thought that he would receive so much support for his festival though; no less than 19 embassies and 22 artists from all over Europe (Finland, Slovakia, Latvia, Austria, etc.) will take part in his festival. Each band will play their own original work, as well as interpretations of existing works.
EUNIC is an organization that deals with the interests of the European national cultural institutes. There are 14 of them, and together with various cultural representatives of other embassies they regularly discuss common interests and goals.
For more information, look for one of the many flyers distributed around town, or go to http://eunic-berlin.eu/de/aktuelles/newsartikel/article/my-unique-jazz-festival-jazz-aus-europa.html. The website includes a list and links to the websites of all bands involved.
