The workshop brought together leading experts from diverse disciplines and regions, including academics, activists, and artists, to explore the concept of “relationalities”—how human and non-human relationships shape forms of coexistence and inequality in Latin America. Key themes included violence and intersectional alliances, digital inequalities, tensions in human and beyond-human interactions, and the rise of renationalization trends.

Opening remarks emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary and non-anthropocentric approaches to understanding these complex phenomena. The event fostered dialogue among participants from renowned institutions such as Freie Universität Berlin, Universität zu Köln, Universidade de São Paulo, Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, and Universidade Estadual de Campinas.

The workshop also highlighted the ongoing collaboration between Germany and Latin America in academia and research, aiming to deepen mutual understanding and promote innovative solutions to regional challenges.

Held at CEBRAP’s São Paulo headquarters, the sessions were conducted primarily in Portuguese and Spanish, with simultaneous translation provided to ensure inclusive participation.

This event underscores the strategic importance both regions place on academic exchange as a tool for addressing social inequalities and building stronger bilateral ties.
