H.E. Giedrius Puodžiūnas

H.E. Giedrius Puodžiūnas has been serving as the Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to the Federal Republic of Germany since August 2024. Born on July 20, 1967, in Panevėžys, Lithuania, he holds a Diploma equivalent to an MA from the Faculty of History at Vilnius University. He is fluent in Lithuanian, English, German, Polish, Russian, and French.

Ambassador Puodžiūnas is a career diplomat with an extensive background in international relations and security policy. He joined the Lithuanian Foreign Service in 1993 and has held various prominent positions over his career. Prior to his current role, he was the Director of the Transatlantic Relations and Security Policy Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania from 2020 to 2024. From 2015 to 2020, he served as Lithuania’s Ambassador to Georgia.

Previously, Ambassador Puodžiūnas held several diplomatic roles, including Permanent Representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and other UN organizations in Vienna, as well as Ambassador to Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Slovakia, and Liechtenstein. His earlier postings include serving as Chargé d'Affaires at the Lithuanian Embassy in Poland and working as First Secretary at the same embassy.

Throughout his career, Ambassador Puodžiūnas has been dedicated to strengthening Lithuania's diplomatic relations and contributing to transatlantic security dialogues. He is married and continues to play an active role in fostering diplomatic and economic ties between Lithuania and Germany.
