Latvia, Sweden, and Ukraine: For Lasting Peace in Europe

The three embassies joined to organize a discussion on peacekeeping in Europe

The embassy of Latvia in Berlin, in cooperation with the Swedish and Ukrainian embassy, hosted a discussion on peacekeeping in the context of the Russian-Ukrainian war.

On June 26th, 2024  a discussion was held in Berlin on the topic "How to ensure lasting peace in Europe and victory for Ukraine in the war of aggression started by Russia".

Kristaps Misāns from Latvia, Deputy Head of the Mission, stressed on the importance of ensuring the safety of small states in the development of international security policy.

He highlighted Latvia’s experience-based expertise on Russian foreign policy, which emerged during the nearly 50-year occupation of the country by the Soviet Union.

At the end of the discussion, the attendees had the opportunity to watch the short film "Nadija", which was created in cooperation with Latvian, Ukrainian and Polish producers and with the participation of the Latvian Cultural Capital Fund.

The film tells the story of a young woman who loses both her parents and spouse when the Russian invasion of Ukraine begins. Nadija is expecting a child and decides to flee to Latvia.

The discussion and screening of the film took place in cooperation with the production companies "Infilmpact" and "BDR REC".
