Kyrgyz and Austrian Parliamentary Leaders Discuss Bilateral Cooperation and Future Projects
In Vienna, Ambassador Makeev met with Austria-Central Asia Parliamentary Friendship Group leaders
July 12th, 2024On July 3, 2024, in Vienna, the Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to Austria, Tolendy Makeev, met with the Head of the Austria-Central Asia Parliamentary Friendship Group, Ewa Ernst-Dziedzic, and other members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the results of the official visit of the Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh (Parliament) of the Kyrgyz Republic, N.T. Shakiev, to Austria, which took place from May 15-17, 2024. They also explored prospects for further developing bilateral parliamentary cooperation, with special emphasis on continuing active engagement at the level of Parliamentary Friendship Groups.
In addition to parliamentary cooperation, the discussion touched on economic interaction between the two countries. Ambassador Makeev highlighted the outcomes of the International Investment Energy Forum held in Vienna on June 10, which saw the participation of A.U. Zhaparov, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Head of the Administration of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Tourism was another key topic of discussion. Particular attention was given to implementing a project aimed at employing citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic in the tourism, hotel, and gastronomy sectors in Salzburg, a federal state renowned for its ski resorts.
Ms. Ernst-Dziedzic and the members of the Austria-Central Asia Parliamentary Friendship Group also shared brief information about the results of the European Parliament elections held in Austria on June 9, 2024, and the upcoming National Council elections scheduled for September 29, 2024.
As a result of the meeting, the parties agreed to continue their close cooperation to further strengthen inter-parliamentary ties and implement joint projects.
