During May and June 2025, the Konrad-Adenauer Foundation (KAS) in Mexico organized a series of seminars, workshops, and forums focused on key topics for the country and the region, including migration, circular economy, and judicial election processes. These activities demonstrate the foundation’s commitment to promoting democracy, the rule of law, and sustainable development through collaboration with academic, governmental, and civil society stakeholders.

The series of events began on May 14 with an online seminar titled The threat of US tariffs for Mexico and Canada – and how Europe could act now, examining the potential impact of US tariffs on regional trade and Europe’s possible response strategies.

On May 20, a workshop on Principles of Circular Economy took place, aimed at professionals and the general public interested in applying sustainable models in their fields and communities. The workshop accommodated 80 participants and offered a space for reflection and exchange of best practices.

On May 21, the foundation held a seminar on Migration and Cross-Border Security between Mexico and the United States, gathering experts and representatives from various sectors to analyze migration policies and related challenges at the shared border.

The activities concluded on June 6 with a forum on Judicial Elections Under Review, where specialists evaluated aspects of transparency, independence, and outcomes of the electoral process held on June 1 in Mexico.

The Konrad-Adenauer Foundation, affiliated with Germany’s Christian Democratic Union (CDU), has maintained an active presence in Mexico for several years, collaborating with public institutions, universities, business chambers, and non-governmental organizations. Its institutional work contributes to strengthening cooperation and dialogue between Germany and Mexico, particularly in strategic areas related to democratic and sustainable development.

These activities illustrate the role played by German political foundations internationally, promoting knowledge exchange and capacity building to address contemporary challenges.
