Ambassador Makoloo Maurice, at the invitation of CEO Gottfried Pessl, visited the Pessl Instruments Headquarters in Weiz, Austria. This visit reinforces the collaboration between Kenya and Pessl Instruments, a global leader in precision agriculture solutions, as the company expands its focus on Africa through its "100,000 Weather Stations in Africa" project.
Since its inception in 1984, METOS® by Pessl Instruments has developed cutting-edge IoT hardware and software solutions that provide critical weather data to farmers, helping them optimize agricultural management. With a presence in over 85 countries, Pessl’s expansion into Africa is strategically aligned with Kenya’s agricultural priorities.
Ambassador Makoloo emphasized that under the Kenyan Government’s BETA agenda, agriculture is a central pillar of economic transformation, aimed at enhancing productivity, food security, and climate resilience through smart, sustainable practices. The "100,000 Weather Stations in Africa" project aligns with these goals, supporting climate risk mitigation and agricultural innovation.
On 29th August, the Embassy of Kenya will join other African missions at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna (BOKU) to discuss the future of African digital agriculture and the 100,000 Weather Stations project. Continued cooperation between Kenya and Pessl Instruments is expected to drive advancements in agricultural technology and economic growth in Africa.
