News from Berlin - On April 16th at the Nordic Embassies, Steinunn Sigurðardóttir is going to present her new novel ‘Jojo’.  Ms. Sigurðardóttir is one of the most famous authors of Iceland and has been considered as a master of irony.

In ‘Jojo’ Sigurðardóttir describes the lives of two men who are both called Martin in Berlin. The first one, Martin Montag, is a radiologist and committed to the fight against cancer. On the flipside, Martin Martinetti is from France and lives in Berlin. The French Martin gets his life saved by the radiologist which leads to a great and prosperous friendship. Both though, are haunted by the possibility of committing suicide and so they carry the burden of this secret through their lives. Yet they handle it differently. Martin Montag flees in work and clear structures, while Martin Martinetti attempts to avoid all social contact and conventions.

"The text is sharp and clear-cut, yet moving and funny", writes Anna Lilja Þórisdóttir of the Icelandic Morgunblaðið.
