Hours after Italy's opening victory at EURO 2024, the Italian Embassy in Berlin hosted a vibrant awards ceremony for the competition "The Best Goal of Our National Teams: You Too Can Score a Goal!" at Casa Azzurri in Iserlohn. Over 250 students from 50 schools across 13 German cities participated, showcasing their creativity through videos, animations, comics, and drawings of iconic goals from Italian and German national teams.

The event, attended by Ambassador Armando Varricchio, FIGC President Gabriele Gravina, and Gianluigi Buffon, celebrated the young participants' creativity and teamwork. The winners also enjoyed watching the national team's training session after their 2-1 victory against Albania. Ambassador Varricchio praised the participants, highlighting their technical skills and team spirit.

FIGC President Gravina emphasized the event's importance in promoting the universal qualities of football: participation and community. He noted that schools and students are the future, and fostering sporting memories strengthens the friendship between Italy and Germany. Buffon shared his joy in engaging with the youth, reflecting on football's unifying power and his own cherished memories.

The first prize went to Döhrnstrasse School in Hamburg for recreating Baggio's 1994 World Cup goal. Martin-Behaim-Gymnasium in Nuremberg took second place with goals by Philipp Lahm and Helmuth Rahn, while Wim-Wenders-Gymnasium in Düsseldorf and Finow School in Berlin shared third place. Class 5c of Finow School won the "Artistic Work" category with their rendition of Grosso's 2006 goal.

The Italian Embassy in Berlin, through this event, continues to foster cultural and sporting ties between Italy and Germany, celebrating the spirit of football and the creativity of young talents.
