The event took place on Hiroshimastraße in Berlin and formed part of the celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the Italian Republic. Organized by the Italian Embassy, the festival welcomed more than a thousand visitors and transformed the area into a vibrant cultural space featuring artistic performances, music, workshops, and culinary activities.

According to the Embassy, the initiative was designed to expand the traditional Republic Day celebrations and make Italian culture more accessible to German and international audiences. Visitors had the opportunity to participate in theatrical improvisation performances, breakdancing workshops, and a variety of cultural activities showcasing contemporary Italian creativity.

An important aspect of the festival was the opening of the Embassy building to the public. Guests were invited to explore the historic premises and view contemporary artworks displayed throughout the diplomatic mission. Ambassador Fabrizio Bucci emphasized the importance of making the Embassy an open and welcoming place that promotes dialogue, cultural exchange, and mutual understanding.

The Street Festival formed part of Italian Week 2026, a nationwide initiative featuring more than one hundred events across Germany. The celebrations also coincided with the 75th anniversary of the resumption of diplomatic relations between Italy and Germany, highlighting the enduring importance of cultural diplomacy in strengthening bilateral relations.
