Ibero-American Embassies In London Promote Cultural Diplomacy Through Gastronomic Route
Six-Week Festival Celebrates Shared Heritage
June 24th, 2026Embassies and cultural organisations from across the Ibero-American world are participating in the first London Ibero-American Gastronomic Route, a six-week initiative that uses food, culture and community engagement to strengthen intercultural dialogue in the British capital.
The programme, which runs from 1 June to 12 July 2026, brings together more than sixty restaurants, cultural venues, chefs and community organisations representing countries from Latin America, Spain and Portugal. The initiative highlights the role of gastronomy as a tool of cultural diplomacy and public engagement.
Each week focuses on different regions of Ibero-America, allowing London audiences to explore diverse culinary traditions while learning about the history, identity and cultural heritage of participating countries. The programme includes cultural events, live music, networking activities and community gatherings designed to encourage intercultural exchange.
The initiative has received support from diplomatic and cultural actors connected to the Ibero-American community and reflects London's growing role as a meeting point for international cultural relations. By bringing together food, culture and public participation, the programme creates opportunities for dialogue between communities from different backgrounds.
The Ibero-American Gastronomic Route demonstrates how cultural diplomacy increasingly extends beyond traditional diplomatic settings, using everyday cultural experiences to strengthen international understanding and celebrate diversity in one of the world's most multicultural cities.
