“Horizontes”: A Celebration of Oaxacan Art and Cultural Connection in Germany
The Embassy of Mexico in Germany inaugurates a collective exhibition by four Oaxacan painters, bridging tradition, territory and contemporary vision
October 10th, 2025On September 24, 2025, the Embassy of Mexico in Germany inaugurated the exhibition “Horizontes”, an artistic showcase featuring the works of four distinguished Oaxacan painters — Fulgencio Lazo, Víctor Cha’ca, Manuel Miguel and Xavier Scherenberg. The event, held at the Embassy in Berlin, brought together members of the artistic community, representatives of cultural institutions and friends of Mexico for an evening that celebrated creativity, identity and intercultural dialogue.
Horizontes unites the perspectives of four artists from different generations, each with unique trajectories and creative processes, yet connected by a shared heritage and regional identity rooted in the vibrant state of Oaxaca. Beyond their common origin, the artists are also linked through their ties to the Universidad Autónoma Benito Juárez de Oaxaca and their commitment to nurturing emerging generations of young creators, ensuring the continuation and renewal of Mexico’s artistic legacy.
Through painting, color, and form, the exhibition explores the intersection of tradition and modernity, offering reflections on cultural belonging, collective memory, and the evolving horizons of contemporary Mexican art. The exhibition “Horizontes” will remain open to the public from September 25 to October 10, 2025, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Embassy of Mexico in Germany.
