Hate Is a Lack of Imagination

News from Berlin- On Thursday May 22nd at 19.30, the Austrian Cultural Forum in Berlin (Österreichisches Kulturforum Berlin) will host an evening event with the inspirational theme: “Hate is a Lack of Imagination”.
The last has been chosen as a direct tribute to the creativity, imagination and humanity of Jewish artists who interned in the Theresienstads camp. Despite the terrible conditions faced in the camp-ghetto situated in what is now considered Czech Republic, individuals were able to organize themselves giving rise to thousands of cultural activities that spurred from theatrical performances, poetry readings, educational, religious and sport classes for the youngsters, and most notably musical works.
The event characterized by a series of literally collages accompanied by the lyrics of Alice Herz-Sommer, Aaron Paul Sandfort , Leo Strauss, Viktor Ullmann , and Ilse Weber as well as moving testimonies from the time, will take the audience on a journey into the lives of those who interned through music, art and poetry. “Hate is a Lack of Imagination” will be introduced by Mr. Michael Lahr and is further dedicated to the special memoirs of Alice Herz-Sommers, who died in London February 23rd 2014.
