On January 18, 2025, Italy and Germany marked a key diplomatic moment at the Italian Embassy in Berlin, showcasing Italy’s agricultural and technological progress at Grüne Woche (Green Week), the world’s leading trade fair for agriculture, food sector, and sustainability. The event represented Italy’s commitment to innovation in agro-industry and sustainable practices, promoting collaboration in the sector. With €164 billion in trade between the two nations in 2023, the event served to reinforce their growing economic and cultural ties.
Antonio Tajani, Italian Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended the event with Patrizio Giacomo La Pietra - Undersecretary for Agricultural Policies. They were joined by key diplomats, including Ambassador Luigi Mattiolo of Italy to Germany. These leaders engaged with industry experts and government officials, discussing deeper bilateral cooperation in agricultural innovation, and sustainability policies, as well as future trade prospects.
This event plays a crucuial role in strengthening bilateral relations between the two states, as Germany remains Italy’s largest trading partner. The discussions emphasized shared goals of advancing the EU’s green transition, addressing global food challenges, and demonstrating the potential for future collaboration.
