Goethe-Institut Ghana Launches Call for Artists for 2025 Exhibition
Emerging and mid-career artists in Ghana invited to apply for upcoming showcase
August 27th, 2025The Goethe-Institut Ghana has announced an open call for its 2025 Exhibition Cohort, a program designed to highlight diverse artistic voices and provide Ghana-based artists with a platform to share their work with wider audiences. Taking place between September and December 2025 at the institute’s premises in Accra, the exhibition series will feature up to two selected participants, offering them the opportunity to present their work in a professionally curated space.
As part of the initiative, each selected artist will receive a participation fee of 6,000 cedis. This support is intended to cover costs such as printing, installation, or other exhibition-related expenses. Beyond financial assistance, the Goethe-Institut will collaborate directly with the artists to curate impactful displays, ensuring their work reaches audiences in meaningful ways. The program also includes opportunities for artist talks, guided tours, and digital promotion, encouraging dialogue between creators and the public.
The call is open to both emerging and mid-career visual artists, as well as interdisciplinary practitioners working across a range of mediums, including painting, sculpture, textiles, photography, and installation art. Importantly, the Goethe-Institut welcomes applications from individuals who may not yet have had the opportunity to stage a solo exhibition but whose work is ready to be presented to the public. This inclusive approach reflects the institute’s mission to support creative development and amplify diverse perspectives within Ghana’s art scene.
Artists wishing to apply must submit a portfolio that includes an artist statement, an overview of their career and previous experiences, as well as visual samples of the works intended for exhibition. References and links to online platforms, such as websites or social media accounts, are also encouraged to strengthen applications.
Through initiatives like this, the Goethe-Institut continues to strengthen its role as a hub for cultural exchange between Germany and Ghana, fostering artistic innovation and providing vital support for the creative sector. By spotlighting emerging talent, the program not only enriches the local art scene but also builds bridges for cross-cultural dialogue and collaboration.
