Last year, manual glassmaking was officially declared an “intangible cultural heritage” in six European countries. We talk to experts about what this status means for glass crafts in Europe. How has glassmaking developed in Germany and Sweden from its beginnings to today? How are glass traditions preserved today? And what future potential lies in manual glass production in Germany and Sweden at the interfaces of sustainability, cultural heritage, design and craftsmanship?

Panel discussion with: •Dr. Georg Goes, Baruther Glashütte Museum Village • Maja Heuer, Kalmar Läns Museum, Sweden • Prof. Barbara Schmidt, Berlin Weißensee School of Art Moderation: Grit Thunemann, Swedish Embassy #glasscraft #glassinberlin #glasstradition #worldheritage
