Ghana High Commission in London Launches Annual Diaspora Magazine
New publication connects Ghana’s “17th Region” with diplomatic and community initiatives
March 09th, 2026The Ghana High Commission in the United Kingdom recently launched the first edition of its annual magazine, The GH London Mission, during celebrations marking Ghana Independence Day in London. Unveiled as part of a broader diaspora engagement programme, the publication aims to strengthen communication between the Mission and the Ghanaian community in the United Kingdom—often referred to as Ghana’s “17th Region.” The initiative reflects the Mission’s commitment to maintaining strong links between Ghana and its global diaspora.
The magazine highlights the activities and diplomatic work of the High Commission, including community outreach, bilateral engagements, and consular services available to Ghanaian citizens abroad. It also showcases initiatives and achievements within the Ghanaian diaspora community, offering readers a platform that connects cultural identity, civic engagement, and practical information. By documenting the Mission’s work and diaspora contributions, the publication seeks to create a shared narrative that strengthens the sense of belonging among Ghanaians living overseas.
The launch also underscores the growing importance of diaspora diplomacy within Ghana’s foreign policy. By engaging its diaspora through communication platforms such as The GH London Mission, Ghana reinforces the social and economic ties that connect expatriate communities to national development. Diaspora communities often play a key role in investment, knowledge transfer, and cultural promotion, making them important partners in strengthening Ghana’s international presence and bilateral relations with host countries such as the United Kingdom.
The first edition of the magazine was sponsored by Royal Kingdom Estate, demonstrating collaboration between diplomatic institutions and private-sector partners within the diaspora network. Such partnerships contribute to sustaining community-focused initiatives while encouraging greater engagement between businesses, diaspora groups, and national institutions.
Through the launch of The GH London Mission, the Ghana High Commission in London has created a new platform to keep Ghana’s “17th Region” informed, connected, and inspired. In doing so, the initiative reinforces the long-term objective of strengthening diaspora engagement while promoting Ghana’s cultural, social, and economic ties with its global community.
