In his first speech as Foreign Minister, Wadephul called for German foreign policy to be consistently aligned with the interests of Germany and Europe. He named security, freedom, and prosperity as key priorities and confirmed that issues such as the Women, Peace and Security Agenda (UNSCR 1325), the protection of vulnerable groups, climate action, and sustainability would remain essential.

The ceremony took place in the Weltsaal, a historic space regularly used for international cultural and diplomatic encounters, underlining the symbolic nature of the transition. With a strong background in multilateral diplomacy, Wadephul has represented Germany in organizations such as the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and the OSCE.
