Berlin hosts the 42nd Berlin Eurasian Club on financial collaboration

The 42nd session of the Berlin Eurasian Club (BEC) took place on December 5, 2024, in Berlin, Germany, addressing the theme "Current Financial Instruments for Developing Economic Relations between Kazakhstan and Germany." The event was organized to strengthen economic partnerships and explore innovative tools to enhance bilateral trade, investments, and infrastructure projects. It marked a significant step in advancing Germany-Kazakhstan cooperation in the interconnected global economy.

The forum welcomed Nurlan Onzhanov, Kazakhstan's Ambassador to Germany, and Olzhas Saparbekov, Kazakhstan's Vice Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development. Prominent German representatives included Gerlind Heckmann, Head of External Trade Promotion at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, alongside representatives from leading financial and industrial sectors. Discussions centered on utilizing the German Raw Materials Fund to secure sustainable resources, the development of joint ventures in renewable energy, and Kazakhstan’s initiatives to attract €137 billion in foreign investment by 2029. Key themes also included leveraging the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, a critical corridor for Eurasian trade, as a driver of mutual economic growth.

The session underscored the deepening strategic ties between Germany and Kazakhstan, highlighting Germany’s need for reliable resource access and Kazakhstan’s ambition to diversify its economy. By addressing critical issues like investment in green technologies and regional connectivity, the 42nd Berlin Eurasian Club reinforced the importance of sustained dialogue and cooperation.
