The Ambassador
Amb. Revaz Lominadze
H.E. Mr. Revaz Lominadze is a career diplomat with extensive experience in international relations, European integration, and bilateral diplomacy. He assumed his role as the Permanent Representative of Georgia to the United Nations Office at Geneva in late 2024. Prior to his appointment in Geneva, Ambassador Lominadze served as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Cyprus (2020–2024), where he significantly strengthened bilateral and economic ties. Throughout his distinguished career within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, he has held numerous high-level positions, including roles within the Department of European Affairs and various diplomatic postings across Europe. Known for his strategic approach to multilateralism, Ambassador Lominadze has dedicated his career to advancing Georgia's sovereignty, security interests, and alignment with Western and international institutional frameworks.
History
Since regaining its independence in 1991 and joining the United Nations, Georgia has maintained a highly active and strategically vital diplomatic presence in Geneva. The Permanent Mission serves as the country’s primary gateway to the UN Human Rights Council, the World Health Organization (WHO), and the World Trade Organization (WTO). Historically, Georgia’s multilateral diplomacy in International Geneva has been heavily focused on humanitarian law, human rights, and regional security. A central pillar of the mission's work is advocating for the rights of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and refugees, arising from regional conflicts, and consistently keeping these critical issues on the UN agenda. Additionally, the Georgian Mission in Geneva is heavily involved in promoting international trade cooperation, advancing global health initiatives, and fostering strong partnerships in science and innovation with institutions like CERN.
