The European summer of sport that brought together athletes from around the world has entered its final stage, with the Paralympic Games following on from the Olympics in Paris. During her visit to the French capital, Foreign Minister Baerbock will meet German and Ukrainian Paralympians and talk with them about the importance of inclusion and sport.

The Paralympic Games are a display of world-class athletic prowess. Germany’s standing in the world is closely tied to sport, and the appeal of sport is an important part of German foreign policy. The Foreign Minister hopes to underline this, too, with her visit to Paris.

The Paralympics in particular are also about so much more. They stand for inclusion, diversity, fairness and international understanding – in sport and beyond. This is reflected in the Paralympic Motto: “Spirit in Motion”. And we champion the same values in our foreign policy.
