The Pakistani Embassy in Berlin has prepared a special flag hoisting ceremony at the Embassy premises to be held on August 14th, the 69th Independence Day of Pakistan. The Pakistani community of Berlin is cordially invited to attend the event. Phool Patti, an independent social enterprise company, will be present at the ceremony to promote Pakistani Truck Art and show their talents.

Truck Art is a popular form of art in Pakistan, featuring poetic calligraphy and floral patterns on trucks. Many of those are decorated and highly customized by their owners and are known as “jingle trucks”. Decoration may include structural changes, paintings, calligraphy, and ornamental decor such as mirror work on the front and back of the vehicles, and wooden carvings on the truck doors. Depictions of various historical scenes and poetic verses are also common.

According to the Pakistani Embassy website, Pakistan and Germany have enjoyed warm friendly relations since the establishment of their diplomatic ties in year 1951. In year 1959, the two countries signed the world’s first bilateral investment treaty. Later in 1961, they entered into financial cooperation, as West Germany became a member of the consortium of countries providing development assistance to Pakistan.

The two countries also maintain close parliamentary relations with frequent parliamentary visits from both sides. In 2012, a Pakistan-Germany Friendship Group was created in the Senate of Pakistan.
