Ahead of their return to Ireland later this summer, Ambassador O'Leary and his wife Anne held a Farewell Reception at their Residence in Vienna on July 10th. H.E. Eoin O'Leary has served as Ambassador of Ireland to Austria and Ireland's Permanent Representative to the International Organisations in Vienna for the past four years.

As their posting is sadly coming to an end in the coming weeks, they were both delighted to open the doors to their Residence in Vienna for a Farewell Reception. They welcomed friends and colleagues from the Irish community, the diplomatic corps, and the Department of Foreign Affairs. Notable attendees included EU Division Director General Maeve Collins, EU Institutions and Co-ordination Director Tim Harrington, Ambassador to Ukraine Therese Healy, and Ambassador to Slovakia Dermot McGauran.

Before Ambassador O'Leary reflected on his own career as a diplomat and provided a timely reminder to those gathered of Ireland's commitment to peace and the multilateral system, Ireland's Deputy Ambassador, Anna Cunniffe, introduced the evening and welcomed the large group of guests who gathered at the Residence. She thanked Ambassador O'Leary for his outstanding service and professionalism throughout his time in Vienna. Following this, Ireland's EU Division Director General, Maeve Collins, paid tribute to Ambassador O'Leary's distinguished career within the Department of Foreign Affairs, where he has also previously served as Ireland's Ambassador to the OSCE, Russia, and China.
