An unprecedented and captivating percussion concert took place on the afternoon of May 14th at the embassy to celebrate Europe Day. It was one of the rare occasions when the "Ode to Joy" – the European Anthem – resonated through the tones of percussion instruments, much to the appreciation of the large audience present.

The event saw the attendance of numerous representatives from the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including former ambassadors to Romania Isabel Rauscher and Martin Eichtinger, the special representative and coordinator for the EU's neighbourhood policy and the external dimension of the Danube region, the leadership of the department responsible for bilateral relations with Romania within the ministry, the former director of the Austrian Cultural Forum in Bucharest, the director-general responsible for Europe within the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber, ambassadors and diplomats accredited in Austria, representatives from the academic sector, and the Romanian community.

On this occasion, Ambassador Emil Hurezeanu emphasized the importance of the European unification and construction project, whose foundations were laid on May 9, 1950. Highlighting the multiple challenges currently facing Europe, the ambassador underscored the importance of the EU's fundamental values and principles and advocated for maintaining cohesion and solidarity among the member states.

The concert was performed by the "Bucharest Percussion Ensemble," consisting of six percussion artists, employees, and collaborators of notable cultural institutions in Romania – the National Opera of Bucharest, the "Mihail Jora" Philharmonic of Brașov, and the "Constantin Tănase" Revue Theatre. The event was co-financed by the Romanian Cultural Institute through the Cantemir Program – a funding program for cultural projects aimed at the international environment.
