December 18th, 2014Europa-Park is located in Rust, in southwest Germany. Visitors from all over the world flock to Europa-Park and experience it’s adrenalin-pumping rides.
Europa-Park is Germany’s largest theme park and the second most popular theme park after Disneyland Paris. The park can, and regularly does, accommodate up to approximately 50,000 guests per day. The park is run by the Mack family and was first opened in 1975. Following a trip to the United States, Franz Mack, founder of the park, was inspired to open a theme park in Germany to showcase his company’s vehicle products. Since then the theme park has become a huge tourist attraction for Germany.
Europa-Park is divided into country-themed sections. The “Italy” section was the first country opened back in 1982. Europa-Park now has several country sections including Holland, England, France, Scandinavian and Spain.
Europa-Park is home to some very special rides. The Russian section contains a rollercoaster based around the Russian space missions called Euro-Mir. This rollercoaster has one of the longest ride times of any rollercoaster in the world. In France, there is the Silver-Star Hyper-coaster. The Silver-Star is Europe's second highest and fifth fastest roller coaster, standing 239ft tall with a top speed of 78mph.
The park however, is more than just fast rollercoasters. There are several resorts around the park, making it the perfect family holiday destination. Little children also have countless safe and fun ride options to choose from, such as the carousels or indoor playgrounds. There are also numerous themed evening shows and entertainment programs for the whole family.
2015 is the 40th Anniversary of the opening of the park. No announcement has yet been made about how the anniversary will be celebrated, but many people suspect new rides or attractions will be unveiled. Whatever celebration occurs it is likely to be a big party, for children both young and old!
