Embassy of Uganda Celebrates 63rd Independence Day in Berlin
Celebrating Uganda’s culture, diplomacy, and community in Berlin
November 13th, 2025On October 25, 2025 , the Embassy of the Republic of Uganda in Berlin hosted a vibrant celebration to mark the country’s 63rd Independence Anniversary. The event brought together diplomats, international partners, and members of the Ugandan community in Germany to reflect on Uganda’s achievements and the shared values that continue to shape its cooperation with Europe.
The ceremony gathered a distinguished audience, including a representative from Germany’s Federal Foreign Office, Heads of Mission from East African countries, Uganda’s Honorary Consuls, members of the diplomatic corps, and Ugandans living in the diaspora.
Ambassador Stephen Mubiru highlighted Uganda’s journey of resilience and transformation, emphasizing the nation’s commitment to regional cooperation, sustainable growth, and social development. He also underscored the importance of the friendship between Uganda and Germany, built over more than four decades of diplomatic relations.
Representing the German Government, Mr. Michael Jurgeens conveyed warm congratulations and praised the enduring partnership between the two countries.
The evening came alive with traditional Ugandan music, dance, and cuisine, giving guests an authentic glimpse into the country’s cultural richness. More than a commemoration, the event embodied cultural diplomacy in action — showing how artistic expression and shared experiences can foster understanding and connection.
On the sidelines, Ambassador Mubiru, joined by Mr. Agama Anthony Woling, Mrs. Banana Jacquline Wabyona, and Ms. Jessica Namuddu, met with leaders of the Ugandan diaspora from Germany and the Czech Republic. Discussions focused on strengthening ties between the Embassy, the Government, and its global citizens, with plans underway for a Ugandan Diaspora Convention to promote cooperation and community engagement.
Through this celebration, the Embassy reaffirmed its mission to build bridges between cultures, deepen partnerships, and strengthen community. Uganda’s Independence Day in Berlin was a reminder that cultural diplomacy remains a powerful tool to connect nations and people alike.
