Embassy of Romania in the Federal Republic of Germany Promotes Romanian Organic Sector at BIOFACH 2026
Embassy supports Romanian producers and exports at international organic trade fair
February 25th, 2026The Embassy of Romania in the Federal Republic of Germany marked Romania’s participation at the International Trade Fair BIOFACH 2026 in Nuremberg, held from 10 to 13 February, one of the world’s leading events dedicated to organic agriculture and products. On 12 February 2026, Ambassador Adriana Stănescu visited the National Pavilion, where Romanian producers and farmers showcased their products. The event brought together representatives of the organic sector and institutional stakeholders, offering an opportunity to promote Romania’s presence in international markets. In a broader context, participation in major international fairs reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen economic diplomacy and support the visibility of Romanian products abroad.
During the visit, the Ambassador held discussions with representatives of the Association of Organic Agriculture Operators – BIO Romania, as well as with Romanian producers and farmers present at the fair. The official presence reconfirmed institutional support for the development of the Romanian organic sector and for strengthening exports to strategic markets. In this context, the Ambassador highlighted the importance of the work carried out by Romanian producers, noting that organic production requires dedication, sustained effort, and passion, which are reflected in the recognised quality of Romanian organic products, including through international awards.
The dialogue also addressed the appreciation of Romanian organic products on the German market, including wines, honey, and other agri-food specialities, for which there is already an active consumer demand. A central point of the discussions was the need to intensify exports to major markets, particularly the United States, one of the largest importers of organic products globally, and Germany. In this regard, the availability to support the organisation of an economic mission in Berlin dedicated to promoting Romanian producers in the organic sector was reaffirmed. Such initiatives contribute to strengthening bilateral economic relations and expanding opportunities for producers within international value chains.
In an interview granted to BIO Romania, reference was made to Romania’s designation as “Country of the Year” at BIOFACH in 2013, a status that provides exceptional international visibility. The potential resumption of this status in the future was considered an important advantage for the global promotion of Romanian organic products. The Ambassador also emphasised the importance of Romania’s participation in major events in Germany, including ITB Berlin and the Frankfurter Buchmesse, where Romania will be the Guest of Honour in 2028. These engagements offer strategic opportunities to promote Romania’s image, including the agri-food sector and certified organic products, within a wider cultural and economic diplomacy framework.
Romania’s participation at BIOFACH 2026 confirms the growing maturity and potential of the national organic sector. Through continued collaboration between producers, professional organisations, and state institutions, Romanian organic products are increasingly positioned to strengthen their presence on international markets and to contribute to sustainable agricultural development and economic cooperation.
