Embassy of El Salvador in Germany Presents Culture and Gastronomy at a Student Event

Cooperation between Germany and El Salvador Continues to Increase with an Organized Event at Humboldt University

Salvadoran youth from different universities in Berlin gathered on June 24th at the Slvadoran Embassy. The event, a showcase of different cultural cuisines, was organized by the student association known as "Studentenwerk Berlin" in conjunction with the Embassy of El Salvador and representatives of fellow Central American countries.

El Salvador and Germany have a history of friendly relations that dates back fifty years. Since recently, El Salvador is a country of priority for German interests in regards to poicies of development and cooperation.

This program of cooperation was implimented with the signing of the Technical Cooperation Agreement on May 6, 1964 while the financial cooperation was carried out through friendly relations sustained over time between the two countries.

The agreement primarily focuses on institution building and good governance, environmental policy issues, and the fight against poverty and violence prevention.

The event was held at the University of Humboldt, in the heart of the German capital, with the cooperation of the embassy of Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Mexico. On display was a section on litterature where works of the renowned Salvadoran poet Roque Dalton were presented.

The embassy also prepared a stand where local and national products were offered such as salpores, drinks or caramel corn.
