In September 2025, the Embassy of Colombia in Austria, together with its Consulate, will host a series of cultural activities aimed at celebrating Colombian heritage while fostering dialogue with diverse communities in Vienna and beyond.

The month begins with the Tonada Workshop on September 7 at Fania Live, an immersive day dedicated to the history and practice of bullerengue, one of Colombia’s treasured traditional rhythms. The workshop invites participants to engage with both the cultural roots and contemporary expression of this musical heritage.

On September 13, Colombians and friends of Colombia in Graz were invited to a free sewing workshop and the presentation of Juanitas NähBox Boutique’s new collection. This initiative emphasizes creativity, entrepreneurship, and community-building through textile art.

Cinema will also play a central role in the month’s agenda. On September 18, the Consulate in Vienna will host a screening of La Casa de Mama Icha, the poignant story of a 93-year-old woman who returns to her native Mompox after decades in the United States. The film offers a moving reflection on memory, belonging, and the enduring ties to homeland.

Vienna’s Long Nights of Interculturality will once again highlight Colombia’s cultural richness. On September 23, the historic Rathaus Festsaal will feature the Costumes of the World show, with Colombian traditional attire presented alongside more than 190 costumes from 35+ countries. The following days, Colombian artists will also participate in the ICDO Silent Auction and Exhibition on September 25 at the Yunus Emre Institute, supporting projects that promote cultural diversity and community impact.

Closing the month, the Consular Talks will return on September 29, this time focusing on Colombian artists in Austria. Hosted at the Colombian Residence in Vienna, the event will create space for dialogue on projects and challenges within the cultural sector.

Alongside these highlights, the Embassy continues to support a variety of ongoing initiatives, including weekly dance classes, new Yogalates sessions, and spiritual dance workshops—activities that blend wellness, creativity, and intercultural exchange.

Through this rich and diverse program, the Embassy of Colombia in Austria reaffirms its mission to promote Colombian culture, strengthen ties with the diaspora, and contribute to intercultural understanding across Austria and the region.
