News from Berlin - The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development will, for  the first time in history, set up a broad social dialogue about the future German development cooperation. The kick-off for the event will be set off by Federal Minister Gerd Müller as ‘Zukunfscharta EINEWELT – Unsere Verantwortung’ (One World – Our responsibility).

The dialogue will centre around politics, the economy and science, together with  clubs, organizations and churches. They were all asked to work together on a future national charter and take joint responsibility for implementation. The goal of the event is to create an embracing policy which captures ecology and economy but also all social, cultural and political challenges of this time.

Next year will be an important year for the Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development since the international community will have to decide on how to go on after achieving the defined development goals. The elaborated ‘Zukunftscharta EINEWELT – Unsere Verantwortung ’ acts as a strategy Germany has to follow and at the same time contributes to the implementation of the “Post-2015-Agenda” for sustainable development.

The start of the event will take place on April 1st at 10.00 in the conference hall of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation  and Development. Minister Müller  will kick off the event, which will be followed by a panel discussion between  Prof. Dr. Klaus Töpfer, the former director of the environment programs of the United Nations, and Prof. Dr. Ernst Ulrich von Weizsäcker, the vice-president of Club of Rome.
