On July 15, 2025, Ambassador Joseline Pujol, representing the Dominican Republic, joined her counterparts from the Group of Latin American and Caribbean Ambassadors (GRULAC) in a meeting with Berlin’s Deputy Mayor and Senator for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises, Franziska Giffey. The encounter formed part of the ongoing dialogue between the region and the German capital.

During the discussion, Giffey presented Berlin’s new economic internationalization strategy, aimed at fostering closer cooperation with Latin America and the Caribbean in strategic sectors such as FinTech, HealthTech, DeepTech, artificial intelligence and GreenTech. Participants also highlighted the importance of enhancing air connectivity between Berlin and major cities in the region to facilitate trade, tourism and the exchange of talent.

The meeting reaffirmed GRULAC’s commitment to strengthening economic and innovation ties with Berlin, promoting sustainable, inclusive and forward-looking partnerships.

Later the same day, Ambassador Pujol took part in a working breakfast led by Federal Minister Johann Wadephul, alongside GRULAC ambassadors accredited in Germany. Held at the International Club of the Federal Foreign Office, the discussion addressed key topics including the reinforcement of multilateralism, shared competitiveness, public-private partnerships and comprehensive security.

“These spaces are essential to building lasting bridges between Latin America, the Caribbean and Germany, founded on mutual trust and a shared vision for sustainable development,” Ambassador Pujol remarked.
