December 3rd 2025: Three Celebrations in One for the Royal Thai Embassy in Berlin

January 26th, 2026On 3 December 2025, the Royal Thai Embassy in Berlin hosted a reception at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel to mark the National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand, the Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great, and Thailand’s Father’s Day. The reception brought together more than 400 distinguished guests, among them H.E. Mr Günther Krichbaum, Minister of State at the Federal Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany; Mr Florian Hauer, Minister of State for Federal, European and International Affairs of the State of Berlin; Dr Joachim Bertele, Deputy Director-General for Asia and the Pacific at the Federal Foreign Office; as well as members of parliament, the diplomatic corps, senior representatives of relevant ministries, military officials, and members of the Thai community.
On this occasion, a short documentary honoring Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother was presented, followed by a moment of silence in her remembrance. In his address, H.E. Mr Chittipat Tongprasroeth, Ambassador of Thailand to the Federal Republic of Germany, expressed his profound appreciation for Her Majesty’s benevolence and her lifelong commitment to poverty alleviation, environmental protection, and the preservation of Thai craftsmanship and cultural heritage.
The Ambassador also recalled Her Majesty’s official visits to the Federal Republic of Germany in 1960 and 1966, noting their significance as historic milestones in Thai German relations. He further underscored the longstanding and close partnership between Thailand and Germany, and outlined Thailand’s foreign policy orientation, which remains firmly anchored in support for a rules-based international order, the principles of international law, human rights, and international humanitarian law. In this context, he emphasized Thailand’s active and constructive engagement within the international community and ASEAN.
On behalf of Minister of State Krichbaum, Ambassador Bertele conveyed his remarks, extending sincere condolences on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, as well as sympathy to those affected by the recent devastating floods in southern Thailand. He reaffirmed Germany’s commitment as a reliable partner of Thailand and praised the strong and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the economic sphere. He also expressed the hope that Thailand and Cambodia would be able to address the border situation through peaceful dialogue and constructive engagement.
Highlights of the celebration included a performance of Royal Compositions by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great, presented by Thai students in Germany, as well as an authentic selection of Thai cuisine prepared by the Ambassador’s residence and Thai restaurants in Berlin. Guests were also invited to enjoy an AI-generated “Chud Thai” (traditional Thai attire) photo booth, alongside an exhibition highlighting the royal duties of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother and Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya in promoting and preserving traditional Thai textiles.
Additional features of the program included fruit carving demonstrations, Thai cooking stations, and tourism promotion activities organized by the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Frankfurt Office.
