Concert of Teresita Gomez in Berlin
A recognition of the contribution of the artist to cultural development
June 17th, 2024Within the framework of the Strategy for Cultural Diplomacy 2024 of the Colombian Embassy in Germany, on May 30, the Colombian pianist Teresita Gómez, performed in the Ibero-American Institute of Berlin (IAI). The event featured the participation of the Director of the Institute, Prof. Dr. Barbara Göbel, members of the Diplomatic Corps in Berlin and members of the Colombian diaspora and friends from Colombia.
The concert was part of the Embassy's cultural agenda, whose aim is to make visible the diverse cultures, arts and traditional knowledge of our country, recognizing the contributions to social, environmental and economic justice, and its impact on the promotion of Colombia as a World Power of Life. Likewise, the concert was a recognition of the contribution of Master Teresita Gómez to cultural development, as well as her contributions to the construction and transformation of our nation.
About the artist:
Master Teresita Gómez is one of the most important Colombian artists of all time and, perhaps, the most popular and recognized in Colombia. She was born in Medellín, where she, hand in hand with the teachers Marta Agudelo de Maya and Anna María Penella, began her piano training at the age of four, at the Institute of Fine Arts. She took courses of advance piano at the Conservatory of Music of the National University of Colombia with the pianists Tatiana Goncharova and Hilde Adler. Later, she obtained her degree as Concertist and Summa Cum Laude Piano Teacher at the Conservatory of the U. of Antioquia, under the tutorship of Master Harold Martina.
