May 14th, 2014
News from Berlin - The Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Berlin organized an event directed at all music lovers interested in other cultures. The Concert of ethnic Moldovan music featured the orchestra Flueraş and Ştefaneţ brothers, accompanied by Geta Burlacu, who performed at Langenbeck-Virchow-Haus in Berlin on the 13th of May.
Moldova is a country whose beauty has yet to be revealed to the world, as it does not attract a high number of tourists. Therefore, the event is also aimed at promoting tourism in the country, and at displaying its genuine, unaffected and vibrant folk culture, which is particularly celebrated in music.
Moldovan musical tradition is based mainly on Romanian and Ukrainian folk, as the country is situated right in between those two european giants. The melodies are accompanied by complex and fast rhythms and they have a bit of jazz in it.
The artists are currently stopping in some of the biggest cities in western Europe to promote their art and culture. They performed in Berlin yesterday, before continuing their journey towards Stockholm and London, where they will also present their show “Experience Moldova, a sensory journey through music and wine”.
Indeed, as Moldova is predicted to be 'the next big thing' in wine tourism, Moldovan wine was served throughout the event, and the participants enjoyed a piece of the finest Moldovan taste.
