Colombian Embassy Brings Salsa to Berlin
In partnership with the Ensálsate Foundation, the embassy transformed ufa Fabrik’s Sommer Bühne into a celebration for Colombia’s 215th Independence
July 30th, 2025On July 8, 2025, the Colombian Embassy in Berlin, in collaboration with the Ensálsate Foundation, transformed the Sommer Bühne at ufa Fabrik into a vibrant celebration of rhythm, heritage, and cultural diplomacy to mark the 215th anniversary of Colombia’s independence.
From the early evening, the stage became a window into the rich artistic traditions of Valle del Cauca, with the dazzling dancers of Ensálsate bringing salsa caleña to Berlin. Their high-energy choreography and seamless fusion of tradition and modernity captivated an audience of over 600 guests, including ambassadors accredited in Germany, representatives of federal and state governments, members of the German Parliament, and leaders from the business community.
The event opened with a welcoming speech by Ambassador Yadir Salazar Mejía, who highlighted the importance of regional contributions to peacebuilding, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable growth in both Colombia and Germany. The ambassador also extended heartfelt recognition to the Colombian diaspora in Germany, emphasizing its vital role in strengthening ties between the two nations.
As the evening unfolded, the performance evolved into a celebration of movement and identity. The night culminated in an explosion of color, rhythm, and shared joy, immersing the audience in the authentic spirit of Colombian culture. Their performance not only entertained but also showed the essence of Colombia’s Cultural Diplomacy strategy: presenting the nation as resilient, creative, and deeply rooted in its traditions.
