The city of Berlin will host a new edition of cinEScultura from 22 April to 4 May 2025. The Spanish film and culture festival, organised by the Embassy's Culture and Science Office, will offer a programme combining film, music and performing arts under the motto "Sustainable Love".

On April 23 at the Regensburg Theater, the young Catalan artist Rita Payés and her trio will offer the opening concert, coinciding with Sant Jordi's Day, a celebration of culture and love in Catalonia. According to the Office for Culture and Science of the Spanish Embassy, Payés will present her latest project, De Camino al Camino, in collaboration with the Jazzclub e.V. and the Theater Regensburg. The concert will be the artist’s only appearance in Bavaria as part of her successful European tour, which has sold out venues in cities such as Paris and London. With a brilliant career that includes awards such as the Enderrock and collaborations with C. Tangana and Jon Batiste, the trombonist and singer will offer a musical journey through jazz, bossa nova, and bolero.

Film will also be one of the highlights of this edition. The Filmgalerie im Leeren Beutel will host the fifth edition of the Premio Ópera Prima de la Ciudad de Ratisbona, which supports emerging talent in Spanish and Latin American cinema, with a strong female presence. Six debut films —including Domingo Domingo and Upon Entry— will compete for this award, to be presented on May 3. Additionally, the festival will celebrate the thirteenth edition of the Premio de Cortometrajes cinEScultura, whose finalists address themes such as inclusion, social justice, and dignity through moving stories, as highlighted by the cultural bulletin.

The free cultural programming at M26 (Maximilianstr. 26) also offers innovative proposals between April 22 and 28, such as the performance Cicatriz, which merges dance and poetry by Galician artist Antón Reixa and Cuban dancer Kirenia Martínez. Also noteworthy is the retrospective dedicated to Víctor Erice, allowing audiences in Regensburg to discover the complete works of one of the great masters of Spanish cinema, including iconic titles such as El espíritu de la colmena and Cerrar los ojos, as highlighted by SpanienKultur.

CinEScultura 2025 will roll out its programming from April 22 to May 4 across several venues. Tickets for the opening concert by Rita Payés on April 23 are available at tickets.theaterregensburg.de. The opening ceremony and special screenings will offer free admission, while film screenings at the Filmgalerie will have a cost of €8/6 or a reduced-price festival pass. Detailed information can be found in SpanienKultur, the cultural bulletin of the Embassy of Spain in Berlin.
