Christmas and New Years Concert by Slovenian Embassy
The Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Berlin is hosting a Christmas and New Years Event at St. Norbert’s Church
December 17th, 2014In the Federal Republic of Germany there is a large number of Slovenians - emigrants and expats – that live and work there, there is an estimated 30 to 40 thousand of them, of which more than half live in Bavaria and Baden Württemberg areas. Slovenians in Germany are involved with many societies, some of which have existed for more than 30 years. Members of these associations are mainly active in the cultural, folklore-dance field and other social areas. There are also eleven Slovenian Catholic missions operating in Germany. All together they play an important role in the promotion of Slovenia and preservation of Slovenian history, traditions and language for emigrants and expats. Slovenian Embassy and other associations try to organize many events for Slovenian expats in Germany.
For the upcoming holidays, the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Berlin will host a gathering for all Slovenians living in Germany and for all friends of Slovenia. The event will take place at the Church of St. Norbert at Dominicusstrasse 17 in Berlin’s Schöneberg area. There will be a concert by Dan Grahelj on guitar, who attended the Academy of Music at University of Ljubljana, Slovenia and Žiga Glavan on organs. Special guests will be the Slovenian Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, Karl Erjavec. Minister Erjavec will be in Germany’s capital to meet with his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier to discuss a number of bilateral and international issues.
