On 28 June, 2024, the Chinese Embassy in Austria and Vienna’s Schönbrunn Palace Zoo jointly hosted the "Animal Midsummer Night" cultural experience event, themed "Cute Pandas, Beautiful China." The Chinese Ambassador to Austria, Qi Mei, and the Director of Schönbrunn Palace Zoo, Stephan Hering-Hagenbeck, attended and delivered speeches.

Ambassador Qi Mei stated that the long-term international cooperation between China and Austria on giant panda conservation has yielded fruitful results. As "civilian ambassadors," giant pandas provide Austrian people with a window to understand China. Recently, both parties renewed a new round of international cooperation agreements on giant panda conservation research, making joint efforts to protect global biodiversity. The Ambassador expressed confidence that giant pandas will continue to serve as envoys of China-Austria friendship.

Stephan Hering-Hagenbeck congratulated the successful hosting of the event and welcomed more visitors to Schönbrunn Palace Zoo to see the giant pandas, ensuring that giant pandas remain a testament to the enduring friendship between China and Austria.

The event showcased outstanding panda-themed artworks and conducted fun quiz raffles on topics such as China-Austria relations, giant panda cooperation, and Chinese knowledge. Local residents eagerly participated, and the spectacular dragon and lion dance performances received rounds of applause from the guests.
