Chinese Ambassador to Vienna Qi Mei attended the Guangxi Culture and Tourism Promotion Conference
A showcase of Guangxi's rich cultural heritage and natural beauty strengthened China-Austria relations
May 27th, 2024The Guangxi culture and tourism promotion conference was part of the 2024 UN Chinese Language Day, which was inaugurated on May 6, 2024, in Vienna. Guangxi, the only ethnic autonomous region in China with land and sea borders, has countless stunning beautiful landscapes.
The Opening Ceremony of 2024 Chinese Language Day enabled more than seven hundred guests to explore the vivid story of civilization and development in Guangxi, China.
On May 7, the Guangxi Culture and Tourism Promotion Conference was attended by Chinese Ambassador to Vienna Qi Mei; Miao Qingwang, Vice Chairman of the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region; former Austrian President Heinz Fischer; Guo Sile, Deputy Director of the Mayor's Office of Vienna; and guests from various sectors of China and Austria.
In her speech, Ambassador Qi Mei said that Guangxi's ethnic minority culture is rich and diverse, and its natural resources are exceptional. Guangxi is not only a "pioneer" in China's inbound tourism but also contributes to the development of the China-Austria friendly strategic partnership. Guangxi has established sister province relations with Austria’s Carinthia region and sister city relations between Nanning and Klagenfurt, with increasing exchanges and cooperation between the two sides. At present, as the China-Austria and China-Europe relations continue to develop, the Chinese Embassy in Austria will continue to support local cooperation between China and Austria, encourage expanded exchanges, mutual learning, and the achievement of more accomplishments.
In his speech, Miao Qingwang, Vice Chairman of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Government, introduced Guangxi's unique geographical advantages, long historical heritage, rich resource endowment, and related preferential policies. He expressed Guangxi's willingness to further deepen exchanges and cooperation with all parties in Austria, enhance investment cooperation in culture and tourism, and promote mutual learning and sharing.
Former Austrian President Heinz Fischer remarked that the friendship between China and Austria has a long history, with fruitful achievements in political, economic, and cultural fields. He expressed hope that both sides will continue to steadily develop the friendly strategic partnership and further deepen and expand cultural and tourism cooperation.
At the promotion conference, artists from Guangxi showcased cultural performances with local characteristics and played the classic piece "Radetzky March" by Austrian composer Johann Strauss Sr. on traditional Chinese instruments. Guangxi's Culture and Tourism Promotion Ambassador gave a special presentation on Guangxi's cultural and tourism resources and inbound travel routes.
